Current Research

Finding a cure or potential new treatments is all part of ongoing clinical research and studies for cystic fibrosis (CF), chronic-lung disease (CLD) and asthma.

Among the current clinical trials of drug research in the areas of cystic fibrosis are promising new therapies for protein assist and repair. Other cystic fibrosis research involves restoring salt transport, mucus treatment, anti-inflammatory and anti-infective drugs, lung transplant drugs, nutritional supplements, and gene therapy. A number of these clinical research studies/trials are also beneficial to chronic lung disease and asthma.

Other studies and research trials are in the areas of early assessment of allergen exposures and ongoing clinical trials in evaluating the usefulness of a new procedure that measures the pH of exhaled breath condensate that may contain products of the lungs associated with lung inflammation
